VSOC Centre 4 Attends Bikewise 2002
(Report from Simon Morris)
BikeWise 2002
Durham Constabulary HQ Aykley Heads 18th August 2002
The time had come once again to man the club stand for a bit of recruitment and promotion for the VSOC and Centre Four. The day promised to be a scorcher and with it the attendance figures went through the roof. John Bryning had travelled up to Durham the day before to set up the stand and was billeted in one of the Universities courtesy of Durham Constabulary all we had to do was provide the bikes and people.
The stand was situated in the garage workshops and we managed to fill our allotted space with bikes of various capacities we even allowed Chris to park his Shadow 'the General' with the rest of the Yam's.
Business went well with a great deal of interest shown in the club from current XV and prospective XV owners alike. Keith and myself flung the net out wider with a ticket drop on all XV's in the car park hoping to increase our chances of obtaining new members. Throughout the day the temperature rose and the visitors kept on coming. The biggest draw to the stand had to be Big Al's beautifully painted Dragstar 650 Classic - it was so popular that when the Judges did their tour to assess the bikes they missed Big Al's bike due to the crowd around it. We missed out on the best club stand to the Northern Pan Riders - Damn their eyes. It must be something to do with their identical shiny jelly moulds being parked up with military precision - So much for individuality.

I would like to thank Durham Police for the Invitation to the event and their hospitality, John Bryning for his time and the excellent display, Keith and Margaret for the use of the TV/Video, Malcolm, Tony, Big Al , Chris Jane and Jim for displaying their bikes and finally all those who attended from Centre four throughout the day.
Cheers
Si.
